This is the midcard title in IWT, and it is to allow superstars the room to develop before possibly moving up to the World Title. The Japanese title is called so not due to it being defended by Japanese people but rather that they are so alien to the World title picture they have to be Japanese.

HistoryEdit

The first champion was TY. who defeated The Great Muta in Japan bringing the title into IWT. During Sprite's reign he would call it the IWT Spritenation Championship. A new belt designed was commishaned by Steven Spriter and Suspect gave an approval that this custom belt design could be used. It was revealed that the design for the Spritenation Championship was made on cardboard and glued onto the Japanese Championship.The Title went back to its original name when Cowlex gained the championship. With no defense to Cowlex's name and several hiatusessses later, GM Suspect vacated the title and awarded it to Smokey in an effort to promote the match held at FNW & IWT Make A Statement against then FNW World Champion Danny Jackpot .
